Fatima Sana Shaikh takes help from books and documentaries to step into the shoes of Indira Gandhi in Vicky Kaushal starrer 'Sam Bahadur' - Times of India

‘Dangal’ fame Fatima Sana Shaikh is leaving no stone unturned for her upcoming film ‘Sam Bahadur’ after she joined the star-studded cast to essay the role of first female Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi. Helmed by filmmaker Meghna Gulzar, the film will star Fatima co-starring Vicky Kaushal and Sanjay Malhotra.

Talking about how the actress has been doing extensive research work to nail the character, a source close to the actress shared, “Fatima has been reading a number of books on Indira Gandhi to understand her better, and get an idea of her regime as the Prime Minister. She also has got her hands on various documentaries to get the nuances and mannerisms of her character right. It is a responsible role and Fatima wants to do full justice to it.”

Interestingly, Fatima who has already essayed the real-life character of Geeta Phogat in Aamir Khan’s ‘Dangal’ was among the first choices for ‘Sam Bahadur’, all thanks to her confidence and grit….
